| The Four Peaks You Love -- And Then Some |
 |
We know you're curious, we know you want details.
Exactly what CAN you expect from Four Peaks Grill and
Tap?
As mentioned elsewhere, the new place will have 12
beers on tap. The Four Peaks brews you'll be drinking
are: Kilt Lifter; 8th Street Ale; Hefeweizen; Peach Ale;
Oatmeal Stout; Fool's Gold Ale; Raj IPA; Hop Knot Ale
(read more later); a Four Peaks Seasonal Beer; Ace
Pear Cider; and 2 Guest Beers.
You'll see all the same menu items at Four Peaks Tap
and Grill as you see at Four Peaks Brewing Company,
and then some. What you can look forward to sampling
in addition: seafood tostadas, which are a spicy blend of
fresh lobster, shrimp and dungeness crab served on
three tostadas topped with queso asadero and avocado
salsa fresca; stuffed chiles, which involve a spicy blend
of pepper jack and asadero cheese stuffed in a poblano
chile, then lightly breaded and fried and served with a
red chile sauce. Also making an appearance will be
carne adovada, a traditional spicy blend of red chile and
roasted pork served with flour tortillas, rice and black
beans. Mmmmmm-hm.
Four Peaks Grill and Tap will be open 11 a.m. - 1 a.m.
seven days a week. In addition, we'll open early on
Sundays for football fans and have special breakfast-y
menu items for those who can't fathom eating a
bratwurst before noon. Turns out eggs and bacon go
great with beer. But all of you knew that already.

| New Hop Knot Ale -- You HAVE TO Try This Beer |
 |
We like to be creative at Four Peaks Brewing Company.
That's why we have a guy who got his degree in English
as our brewmaster. He has something of an artsy fartsy
approach to the science of brewing, and we love him for
it. We think he may have outdone himself with our
newest addition to the Four Peaks beer family: Hop Knot
Ale.
In the oh-so-lyrical words of brewmaster Andy Ingram,
Hop Knot is an "American Strong Pale Ale." Let's analyze
this moniker, shall we? It's AMERICAN because it's a
blend of four American hop varietals: Simcoe, Magnum,
Cascade and Mt. Hood. It's STRONG because it weighs in
at a
hefty 6% alc./vol. It's a PALE ALE because it's very light,
almost golden in color, and packs a significant
hoppy punch.
Hop Knot falls somewhere between an IPA and an
English
Style Bitter. Due to an overwhelming demand and
impressive response from Four Peaks connoisseurs (aka
"regulars"),
Hop Knot will be the fourth and final distribution beer
we
produce. With the aid of Beer Sales Guru Ted Golden,
Hop Knot will be making its way into your favorite
restaurants, bars and retail stores over the course of
the next year.
An interesting factoid about this beer: a whopping 32
pounds of hops (most added at the end of the boil, for
you beer geeks out there) give Hop Knot its unique
flavor. (*I tried my first Hop Knot last night, and I'm a
believer. I feel happy to be alive because of this beer.
You will too. Try it -- NOW!)

| Say Hello to Little Gracie Golden! |
 |
Speaking of new developments at the brewery, Four
Peaks Beer Sales Guru Ted Golden and his lovely wife
Stephanie have just had a new addition to their family!
Little Gracie Marie Golden was born on August 13th,
weighed in at 7 lbs., 6 oz. and stretched to about 19.5"
tall.
She joins her big sister Sydney Mae Golden, who will be
two years old on August 29th. Congratulations to the
Goldens on a couple of jobs well done!

| Four Peaks Expands to North Scottsdale! |
 |
|
As of August 1st, Four Peaks
has taken over the spot at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard
and
Hayden Road that was previously brewpub Icebreakers.
For
those of you who may be unfamiliar, Icebreakers
offered its patrons excellent beer, great food and the
ability to brew and package their own signature beers.
The valley will miss this special brewpub, but --
Times have changed for this 6,000 square-foot, two-
story
facility in North Scottsdale. Four Peaks will NOT brew on
site at this location, nor will Four Peaks fans get a shot
at brewing their own beers. Four Peaks Grill and Tap
WILL, however, offer eight of our signature beers, plus
a
seasonal, plus a cider, plus two guest beers, for a total
of . . . well, you can do the math. Folks will be able to
buy package beer from Four Peaks Grill and Tap as
well; kegs, bottles and growlers will be up for grabs.
(You should see the beer cooler!*)
The same "Craft-y"
culinary delights offered at the brewpub in Tempe will
also be on the menu at the new place. Read the
details elsewhere in this newsletter.
Oh! And in keeping with Four Peaks' tradition, the bar at
the site
will be expanded and stretched to a total of about 60
feet -- plenty of space to drink LOTS of beer. The
second
floor (more drinking space) will provide a spot for
private parties, dining and (just maybe) impressing
others
with one's pool and Golden Tee skills.
(*Similar in size to the author's new home.)
